Heat pump repair & maintenance
Because a heat pump runs all year, it needs a little more care than an air conditioner. We keep it running efficiently in every season.
Common heat pump problems
- Not switching between heating and cooling (reversing valve or controls)
- Ice that doesn't clear from the outdoor unit (defrost problems)
- Low refrigerant from a leak
- Failed capacitors, contactors or fan motors
- Backup heat running constantly and driving up bills
Why maintenance matters more
A heat pump works through both summer and winter, so it builds up more wear than a cooling-only system. Two tune-ups a year, one before summer and one before winter, keep it efficient and catch problems early. Both are included in our Comfort Plan.
Common questions
How often should a heat pump be serviced?
Twice a year: in spring before cooling season and in fall before heating season.
